Natural and safe whitening solutions

In TOROWHITE we have developed natural coloring solutions that can be used almost in all the food applications. All our products give excellent whiteness, opacity and no sensory effects.

On May 6, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) issued a scientific opinion concluding that titanium dioxide (E171), a whitening pigment used to color everything from gum to sauces, “can no longer be considered safe as a food additive.” It will have an impact in all the food markets worldwide.

Titanium dioxide can as well no longer be considered safe when used as an additive in animal feed, concludes the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). The assessment by EFSA’s Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) follows the recent conclusion reached by the authority’s Panel on Food Additives and Flavorings (FAF) that the same compound is not safe when used as a food additive. The FEEDAP Panel said it could not rule out concerns related to genotoxicity – the ability of a substance to damage DNA, the genetic material of cells.
